We'll be in the UK for 2.5 weeks in November and thinking to visit Greece for a week while we're close by - thought it would be slightly warmer there compared to other places nearby. Now wondering whether it's worth doing as it will be their low season, apparently the place could be dead and wet. How bad/good is Santorini during that month?

Any other recommendation on European destinations to visit in November? Would be for about a week of less, and preferably somewhere not too cold. Thx.

Most if not all accomodation is closed in november on Santorini.

You'd probably stand a better chance in one of the cities in Europe and do some countryside tours with a rented car.

For example Tuscany and its cities, Lisbon and the surroundings, more that kind of thing.

i agree with previous post. i was there a few years back in may - weather was not cold anymore but the place was still empty and a lot of the resorts were closed. i think that the summer months - july/aug would be the best time to go.  nonetheless, it's still a nice place to visit even when there's not many people.

The place is like a ghost town in Winter.  Everything is closed - it's hard to find a restaurant open.  I'd never go at this time again - it was kind of depressing - you realise how these islands kind of shit down without the tourist hordes of Summer.

what aboutthe Canary Islands if you want a break. The weather is always nice that time of year and reasonably priced.  Might not have the charm of Santorini but still worth a look. Or there's North Africa (not Europe but not too far) and still a good winter destination.

Basically the majority of Europe will be somewhat chilly. I would suggest sub sahara (Kenya for example). There are many offers around (try Kuoni.com) where you can get 2 for 1 offers.

Egypt (e.g. El Gouna) is another option.

the canary islands is a good option -- not summer-like, but won't be winterly either.

personally, living in singapore, it'd be nice being "cold" for a week or two and see the alps or scandinavia, as stark a contrast as possible to being in the tropics.
