I want to buy a Xmas present from my son to my maid's son who is 10.
Any ideas for something relatively light to post (which of course I'll pay for) that a 10 year old boy would like?
Don't want to ask her as want it to be a surprise.

Some of the ever-popular books from the Singapore based Mr Midnight, James Lee might go over well.
Also "The Day my Bum went Pyscho" from Andy Griffiths is also pretty fun.
(I'm assuming that he'd be learning English at school.)

I would give him a traditional Xmas gift such as a stocking and fill it with a cool T-shirt (e.g. of a football team), some pens, some books, some sweets and I would give him say 10 or 20 USD.

TO nice thought, can I be your maids son - wow that is one mean gift - a football shirt etc etc PLUS the money! I certainly wouldnt be paying that amount for a gift. I work on a strict budget when it comes to gift buying, BTW we go to loads of birthday parties and it gets really expensive. For children that we dont really know all that well then the max is S$20 and for those who are close family friends then its up to S$30 for a present. For a 10 year old, an HMV voucher would go down well, a Borders book voucher, perhaps a remote control toy.

Thanks for the ideas so far. TRying to discreetly find out if he's a football fan.
Her son is back in the Philippines btw, so don't think the vouchers would work.

if they are from some far-flung province, most likely he wouldn't be a football fan. basketball (NBA), yes, but not football. a t-shirt (doesn't have to be authentic jersey) will be appreciated, and will be light to send by post (please make it via registered mail; the philippine post is not reliable particularly during christmastime and lot so packages gets lost).

Some suggestions I think 10 year olds will find interesting as I am also sending/ bringing gifts to my nieces every christmas
baseball cap little toy cars comic heroes(eg)spiderman action figures school items like colorpencils and coloringbook storybook ( though this might be bit heavy to post)
And send it soon coz Basketball is right, Christmas is very busy time for the post office.Hope this helps.
