I've been trawling the supermarkets looking for instant formula in a bid to make my long plane journey with my 7 month old easier - but to no avail.  Does anyone know if this is available (preferably in cartons) in Singapore.  If not, any advice on how to make travelling with a two year old and seven month old as stress free as possible would be greatly appreciated...especially surrounding the formula situation.

Nope, they dont have the ready-made formula here.  I usually stock up on a few cartons when I go back to UK.

I usually take a few bottles and measure the formula powder in the bottles so that all I need to add is water.  This is convenient enough for the plane journeys.  For the holiday itself, I take a tin of formula powder with me and a flask to keep water warm.

Most people here buy the plastic powder formula containers. I have the ones that look like a funnel on top and have the screw on tops, multiple containers can be connected together for convenience. I believe mine are Pigeon brand, available in any major department store here.

BTW, a new study in 2007 showed the ready-made formula that comes in cans leaches unhealthy levels of toxic chemicals from the plastic lining in the cans. Most plastic #7 bottles do too, but not as much. Still, just thought I'd pass it along in case you haven't heard. Google and you'll find many news articles on it.

Nope, they don't have ready made formula in cartons here.  Would second the formula containers where you can pre-measure.  Just need to pop them into bottles, ask the stewardess for some warm water and hey presto! you are sorted.

Other tips :  book a child meal in advance for the 2 year old. If he can carry a small backpack, fill one with a soft or comfort toy, colouring pens and activity books.

Have a sweet on hand to pop those ears when plane is gaining altitude. If one of them has a cold, give a decongestant about 30min beforehand.  Better for the ears.
