Hi,

My 4 month old has been crying incessantly since the morning. He had his 4 month vaccination on Sat. He was a bit grumpy on sun but was OK yday. However today he has been crying. He is not taking any milk either breast or bottle ( normally I give him the breast milk in the morn and eve and bottle during the day). He just likes to chew on the bottle and is not interested in the breast milk. Could he be getting his teeth. He does not have fever . He is just so cranky .Pl help... I am thinking of taking him to the Doc.

I remember my children having unsettled days which seemed to go on forever!!  I think if you can't settle your baby either taking it for a walk, a drive in the car, rocking it, feeding it, bathing it, re-wrapping, changing it's nappy, cuddling it, then maybe take baby to the doctor.  You can never be too sure.

1.  Does your baby have a temperature?
2. Is your baby taking any milk or just a bit less than usual?  Breast milk would be best in these cirumstances as its more hydrating than formula.
3. Does your baby sound distressed or in pain (different cry to usual).
4.  Have you given a little Calpol?  This will help with a slight temp rise and discomfort.

If you don't get the correct answers to these questions, then go to the doctors.  If the baby is just a bit fed up and feeding a bit less, but no temperature then just sit and comfort him/her for a while. We all have our off days.

It is not necessary to go to the doctors for every little deviation from the norm (despite what people) put on here, but if you are honestly concerned and the behaviour is very different to normal then go.
