My 20 month old son sucks his thumb to settle himself to sleep and sometimes during the day. Recently his thumb has become red and slightly chapped; has anybody got any remedies they can share with me to ease the soreness? Thanks

my son does the same thing....I've been trying to get him to stop but it's useless. So what I did to give his thumb a break is put a bandage on it for 1-2 weeks.... He got really upset and started crying and all but just ignore it, u need to let the thumb heal or else it will get worst...
The problem now is that he can take the bandage off!! So I back to square A... but at least his thumb has healed..

Leave him alone. If it hurts too much he'll stop all by himself... kids are pretty clever like that
