Like Caligirl, I also have a hyperlexic son, now diagnosed with ASD.  Luckily this is one of the more socially acceptable quirks that an autie or aspie can have!!!!!

Same here. When my daughter was just only 12 months I also started reading to her every night before going to sleep.  By 18 months she can already recognize a lot words and even can count 1 to 100!  Children have a good memory.  Their memory is like a sponge that absorbs anything that you teach them.

What I can suggest is always bring her to a public library.  Expose her to all kinds of children's books.  Just like what we did when she started to have interest in books.  All she wants is to read and read and read.  There was even a time when it was her 3rd birthday.  Somebody gave her books and somebody gave her toys as birthday presents.  She chose all the books first before the toys.

Don't worry, I'm sure he isn't - he's got such good jeans.

Thanks. I'm sure you're right. And he can tell the difference between "Hello" and "Ok" so perhaps he can read a bit.  Kiss
