a President who is going to raise taxes and increase social spending is not exactly what is needed during a recession!
Maybe he can save money by not invading other countries? although stealing oil is probably profitable. You have troops in 160-170 countries according to google. I think some of that money would be better spent on education and health care. But you are right, we have a recession so his job is going to be difficult.

On raising taxes, may want to take a look at that closely. McCain would have raised taxes to a higher level for MIDDLE INCOME FAMILIES(aka joe the Plumber). Get with it. What about the fact that Obama will be raising taxes on small businesses which in turn means fewer pay raises for their current employees and possibly even some having to be let go and fewer new hires. It'll be interesting for sure. That said, if it has to be a democrat, I much prefer Obama over Hillary. At least he's a sort-of outsider and he's young so we'll hopefully see some actual new ideas from him. I also think he's more honest and trustworthy than Hills. Good for him - he ran a good race. Now the very hard work begins - I wouldn't want his job!

I just think they got the wrong man policy and experience wise.

Actually there is some misconception about the raising of taxes on small business. it is the income of $250k after expenses that will be taxed.
In addition, the health care reforms will make it possible for those employees of small businesses to now receive insurance when it was otherwise unavailable. There are a multitude of other tax credits and reforms including assistance for start ups. As well, he wants to close tax loopholes that make it cheaper for some larger corporations to outsource jobs overseas. If this comes into fruition, which will assist in creating or maintaining jobs and more products and services homegrown in the US. Let's hope that becomes a reality!!!

not complete truth -
Well, we'll see. I personally know one small business owner back in the US who is concerned about how a tax hike is going to affect their business and their ability to give pay raises and hire more employees. Like anyone else, if they have to pay higher taxes it will affect their business's bottom line and that will ultimately affect the employees.

This election campaign has certainly open our eyes to the race prejudice that still practised in American. The way Palin trying to play the race card and so many white voters responded ! Kill him kill him ! They shouted. He is a terrorist !
I am glad Obama wins, it restored our faith in human race that first and foremost Americans can see beyond surface ( image) differences. My God, Obama was raised by a white American mother and white American grandparents and so many still couldn't see beyond his skin color !
I shudder to think how difficult a time black Americans have had to endure all this while.
The world will be in for more mess, if a forward country like America couldn't move beyond this divisive prejudice !!

I think you miss the point. America has moved forward - 40 years ago this outcome would have been unthinkable. Are we there yet with race relations? No, but today demonstrates that we are at the beginning of the end of that journey.

What is admirable is, Obama stayed clear of a campaign base on race while Palin tried to stir up race hatred. Many prominent people such as Colin Powell could see America needs an inclusive leader & not a divisive ones. We have enough divisive leaders in this world causing untold misery to people in many countries. I am not surprised Palin's race card misfired, turning many more enlightened white and black voters towards Obama instead. Who would blame them ! The world certainly does not need a racist leader. but many voted for him because of his colour. which is just as bad. race shouldnt have played any part

Internatioanl Herald Tribune -
Obama moves America beyond racial politics Published: November 5, 2008 WASHINGTON: Even during the darkest hours of his presidential campaign, Barack Obama held on to his improbable, unshakable conviction that America was ready to step across the color line.
On Tuesday, America leaped.

Understand how your friends may feel. Have your friends check out the tax reforms if they are worried. If they make 250K after all expenses, there is a possibility they will be taxed more in the future, but the benefits I think outweigh the slight increase. The reason have paid so much attention is my mom has her own biz and that was certainly scrutinized. Plus, if your friends do not make that much(and good on them if they did, would think they can afford some extra tax as some of us may see come our way for the best I feel), they would be TAXED MORE without most of the side benefits as per McCain. let's see how it goes. I certainly think there is much more of an upside to Obama's tax initiatives, but again, we'll know when it happens.
