Hi, Guys, please give some advice on my situation

I recently had an interview with a SG MNC company. The interview seems smooth and
I can feel the manager were satisfied. A few days later the HR asked me for some documents and I gave to them. However, after 10 days there is still no news. I called back to HR and he answered me: "we decided to hire you but  still pending for some internal review on your package." Now after another week, I still got no update. What makes me worried more is
that I saw the same position being posted by jobsdb.

Is this normal in SG? how could it took so long to decide a package around 5k/m? Would it
be possible HR changed their mind?  Anyone who has experience please give me some
advice. Thanks!

Can you ask them to have it in writing that they will hire you?

Without it, you mind as well apply of the job that is posted because you are unemployed.

Hi guys, I would appreciate some advice on my situation

I recently had an interview with a SG MNC company. The interview went smooth and
the manager seemed satisfied. A couple of days later HR asked me for some documents and I send them straight over. However, after 10 days there is still no news. I called the HR department again and a guy said: 'We've decided to hire you but it is still pending an internal review on your package.'
This was a week ago, I still didn't get an update. What worries me even more is
that I saw the same position being posted on jobsdb.

Is this normal in SG? Why would it take so long to decide on a 5k package? Would it
be possible they changed their mind?  Anyone who has experience please give me some

... well, it might have something to do with the fact the world economy is collapsing and they are looking for someone local ie much cheaper?

I think it is a Singapore thing. I have experienced this twice here that from the time they say they want you until you actually have a paper in the hand can vary from 1-3 months. When I moved here I didn't even have the paper in my hand but moved here on good faith, well it was a MNC so I suppose a certain amount credibility could be expected. Second firm took 3 months between the phone call saying they are putting together an offer until I actually saw the offer.  Undecided

I would call them once every two weeks but still continue applying for other jobs meanwhile just to be on the safe side. Remember it is not like they are doing you a favor by hiring you, it is the other way around, they may have looked a long time to find somebody suitable. Good people don't grow on trees.

good luck.

Thanks guys I will take your advice. It is fine if they are looking for somebody else but they'd better tell me frankly. I just don't like living with that uncertainty.
good luck.

Actually 'dealing with ambiguity' is on the list of desirable qualities in a lot of performance reviews. So, you may start practicing now

Wait till they start asking for your last payslips so they dont have to pay you a cent more than they can get away with, let alone what you are actually worth.

Me too. My was worst, i got the letter of offer already but was later told that i will not be employed.

I was offered a job in this company recently. The company sent a letter of offer to me after a few successful interviews. But to my dismay, there were a lot of discrepancies between the letter and the verbal discussion we had during our interviews earlier, and also with my name spelled wrongly in the letter. However, i accepted the letter and sent in some question for clarification on the discrepancies, and at the same time requested a fresh copy with my name corrected to be prepared so that i can sign on my first day of employment. But to my dismay, the company reject me a few days later saying i complained too much and did not want to work.

I have already resigned my current job and cancelled my EP and now the company did not want to employ me, and im left without a job and a white card that i have to go back to my country in a few days time. Do you think i can do something about it? Any law in Singapore that can do justice for me?

Thank you very much..

Once you start negotiating on a job offer do not stop job hunting.

The company is probably negotiating with the other guy right now, knowing that they have you as back-up.

If you get an offer from another company, won't the shoe be on the other foot at that point?

You are crazy to be sitting around waiting for the phone to ring.
