So, a billion $$ jet deal is given to France and as was expected the old men in London were stomping their feet and pouting like my 3 year old. But what was more funnier was this clamour for stopping aid to India which as per reports "Britain begged India to acccept so as not to embarass Britain". But the joke was lost when I read the below extract in paper:

"International development secretary Andrew Mitchell even admitted that the focus of aid to India included "seeking to sell the Typhoon" – in violation of the stated rationale of British overseas aid, to fight poverty and promote health and education."

This is an open admission of attempted bribery to rig the bidding process for the jet deal. At least the clowns in Indian parliment would never admit to such a crime so openly and if there ever was such an admission, Indian courts would have immediately halted and ordered a relook of the entire aid process. I thought Indians are stuck with crappiest politicians now I am not so sure.

there are plenty of other reasons for the UK stopping aid to India:
the Indian space programme
the Indian nuclear arsenal
the large wealth already in India
being able to host the Commonwealth Games - but that might be a demonstration of why aid is required...
corruption
etc.
