Entry level doing what? R&D sector has many types of jobs, bench research? PK/PD specialist? Lab manager? Clinical research associate? Anything from $3-6K, depending on what you are doing. Many jobs don't require a PhD, so it won't boost your pay from $3K to $4K if a normal entry level hire is a BA/BSc candidate.

My first post here. I'm in a similar situation here as Chinese Hamster.  I'm more into the area of pharmaceutical drug formulation (drug delivery R&D etc)....is it big in Singapore?  Knowing a lot of big pharmas have rooted their Asian market HQ in Singapore, I presume there are opportunities here?

Thanks in advance!!

Mainly in production, commercial/marketing and some basic research as well as drug development (Ph2-4 trials, very limited Ph1). Drug delivery not much if at all. You'll have to check which companies might actually have production R&D/medicinal chemistry arms, or with the govt research institutes.

ChinHamster,

I work for a CRO involved in late phase trials. Our program director has a PhD in Pharm prob makes 160K. I have a modest expat pack 220k + benfits and 15% bonus. All figs annual & Sin dollars.Word is Abbott is building a large R&D facility and is recruiting now.
Singapore is popula as admin HQ for big pharma in APAC; but most don't have manufacturing here - those are all in China,Thai, etc.
  Luck!

There is a lot of manufacturing here

GSK alone has a pharma plant, a pilot pharma plant and a new 1.2 billion vaccine facility being built

I work with a lot of PHd's in a large pharma - many of them from China - I do not want to guess their salary but it will be less than 100 K

If you are on 220 K and expat package hold onto it - you would get nowhere near that at a Pharma unless you were a Dr or VP

Hi all =)

Am new here, but I agree with CRO. That 220K expat package, unless you've got extensive experience, is not going to come by easy.

Any suggestions for point of contacts ie agents or employers?

My wife has masters with honours and has worked in Singapore, the US and UK in both biotech and Pharma (15 years post qualifying experience).

Is ideally looking for off the bench work but willing to take on bench role to get into market.
