Yes, it is possible to get a DP for an unmarried partner but can be extremely difficult for some and also impossible for some.

Just read the number of threads that have been on this board over the years and see that people have been unable to do it.

Good for you, but not all people are so lucky, so you are one of the exceptions to the rule, not the norm.

I agree - it certainly wasn't easy (but not because of anything to do with the MOM).  The difficult part was HR telling us it was impossible, and not being able to find (easily) evidence of others succeeding.  And, hearing so many people comment that it's either impossible or extremely difficult.  We almost gave up.

It was actually on THIS website that I saw a few people talk about having succeeded!  It was this (and ONLY this) that gave me the amunition to challenge HR again and ask for their assistance more firmly.  I actually emailed them the link I found on this website!  After that, they gathered our stat. declaration papers and did a manual submission at the MOM.  It all happened then without any problems.

The posts on this webboard are predominantly "information seeking" or "I have a problem...help me solve it".  So it makes sense that the majority of posts on sites like this are by people who are struggling with this matter.

That is why I continue to mention our positive experience, as it will give others hope and reason not to give up.
