Baby clothes in storage have yellowed

I just went through my old baby clothes as we are expecting no.2 shortly. They have been in storage (with hungry hippos) for 3 years. A lot of the baby gros and other white clothes seem to have yellowed which is sad as they are all beautiful stuff.
Any ideas on how I can get them whiter? I don't really want to have nasty chemicals on my new born skin so am a bit concerned about whitening them. What about if I whiten them and then give them a couple of washes in baby friendly solution before he arrives?

How sad, this happened to me too. I lost some pieces and salvaged others. Some of the plain whites I ended up dying blue or green and that covered the yellowing- such a waste to just throw them away.
In my experience, if the stains don't come out after 2 days in a bucket of napisan, they never will. After soaking in napisan run them through a normal wash cycle. I've had two babies, one with sensitive skin, and neither reacted to napisan or any other laundry detergent for that matter (j&j baby bath was quite a different story). If your washing machine is working and washing properly there should be no residual stuff in your clothes.

in my experience once they're yellow that's it, I'm afraid, although I've never tried the nappisan trick. I have found though that thoroughly washing them right before you put the clothes in storage helps. Whenever things have gone yellow in my cup***, it's generally because they weren't a 100% clean. Hope that helps for next time...
