I am 8-months pregnant and am suffering with hemorrhoids/ piles (not sure which is which). They are more itchy than sore and I would like to get rid of them or ease the discomfort somewhat before I go into labour and add to them!!
Any natural remedies, tried and tested advice?

Have you tried the pharmacist. It is quite a general problem and I am sure that they will be able to help.

They are swollen veins. If you are rich you have haemorrhoids, go to a specialist and have surgery. $ 5000+++ If you are not, you have piles,go to the pharmacist and get ointment $10+

Same happened to me. Eat more fruit and drink plenty of water. Visit the pharmacy and get some medication for it. It will disappear a few months after the birth. Very common in pregnancies.

Daflon - tablets which you can get in Watsons, Guardian etc
The leaflet says they are safe to use in pregnancy although I am not a doctor and have not used them while pregnant

A midwife once told me that witchhazel is what you use as it shrinks them. This is a natural product so I assume if not a pharmacy then a health food store would stock it.

I had that problem too, first get some cream from the pharmacy to apply onto the rectum. You HAVE to double up on the fruit and veggies. Try this first thing in the morning:
1) one orange peeled 2) one apple 3) 3 florets of brocolli (make sure u soak in salt water first) 4) cucumber
feel free to add other fruits such as strawberry, watermelon, kiwi etc.. Blend this everyday in the morning and drink this before taking anything else, this will help alot, add some water if it gets to thick. you must use a blender not a juicer, the whole point is to get as much fiber as possible...
good luck

eat papaya every single day and avoid bread totally. It works for me. It will take a few weeks to go away. For the itchiness you may have to use some haem. cream. Its a sign its healing.

Agree with PP not to do anything about an operation till you deliver. They are definitely going to get worse if you have a natural delivery, and if they need looking at then, you can. Creams, fibre etc will be all you can do at this stage.
I was a big fan of yoga - the upside down poses really helped, as the piles are really caused by blood pooling in the veins.

it does NOT get worse after normal delivery. My doc gave some ointment & tablets to take and it is fine.
