Fellow Ladies and Gents of the expatriate community,

I live near to the Pinnacle (hell in fact I've painfully watched it grow brick by brick). At this stage, with most bridges complete, I've got to conclude that its an awesome building worthy of one of one of those nat-geo mega-structure episodes.

My question to you is, ignoring any HDB-regulations, would you rent an apartment there and if so, for how much?

My thinking is, this is a great building, in a awesome location (close to CBD with (rare for singapore character!). The windows are huge, and the views must be huge!  I would pay 4K for a 3 bedder there any day.

I want to know whether, at some stage, the place will in fact be full of expats (and hence my neighbourhood) instead of the heartland populous it would have been built for.

To each their own. I think it's a gigantic eyesore.

Something to rival the People's Park Complex for the next couple of generations...

Anyway, my guess it would be predominantly locals living there. HDBs aren't geared for investing/speculation, so I imagine it'd be mostly owner occupied.

Pinnacle. It's ugly but at least if you are inside looking out you cannot see it.

You can live in Emerald Gardens on Club St for 4k

Wait until early next year and live in Lumiere.  Best seaview in the CBD that doesn't cost $2,000 PSF.

It's a gorgeous view. I personally quite like looking over the port to sentosa and the southern islands. On a sunny day, its quite picturesque. I used to have an office in springleaf tower and I imagine it would be similar.

Erm, actually it is not a brick building. In fact, no bricks are used at all - it is mainly reinforced concrete.... Is the water boiling yet?

Thanks for the replies - yes you're right, it most certainly isn't brick (apart from at the base) and yes, I guess you could get something on club street for 4k (and btw, club street has got to be the coolest street in sing).

But my point is, IMO, this building may well offer a far superior living experience for expats than say Emerald Gardens (or other 4k'ish) condo's. IE it has views, big windows, and a running track on the roof.

I just wonder whether you (or the URA) has given thought to the concept of higher quality HDB's becoming desirable to expats. Possibly not.

If you can still get in on the act, I would recommend the Pinnacle as it represents excellent value and would be a good safe investment for the future.  The location alone makes it a good buy. The views are amazing and you would be able to get a very good rental income from it.  I would move fast and strike while you can.

Never mind the pointless drivel by 'buy now'. None of his posts make any sense.

By the way, would you really pay 4K for HDB rental? What are the facilities there?
