Hi there,  Smiley

Firstly I will like to say thanks for dropping by to read my post. Im a newbie here. Assist me if I said anything wrong. Every comment will be greatly appreciated, hopefully i can do a better post next time.

Im doing on a project that discuss about the censorship in Singapore. As everyone knows the fact that Singapore really control every single form of media that being exposed to the society. What kind of media I'm referring to would be medias such as advertisement, posters, movies, webpages( eg. pornography etc.) tv shows so on and so forth.

One example. A NC16 movie from a foreign country. That movie have to go through a level of filtration, so much , till it is acceptable by the censorship board before it is launch in Singapore. You can see 2 different point. One is the original movie (without any censoring being done) while the 2nd one is the filtered version of it. What do you think? Will the uncut version be better, in a way that it might show a clearer story line but be exposed to the 'censored' side of it, or vice versa?

My questions...
1) If leniency is to be implemented to the above example, what kind of impact it will have on the society (Singaporean regardless of age and culture)?

2) What do you prefer? The strictness, as it is today, or leniency, or better to increase the level of strictness ?

3) And why?

Give me your views...i appreciate all your opinions and comments Wink Cheesy

gal,

Interestingly enough, someone told me that there are in actuality no censorship LAWS in the books here in Singapore.

Have never verified, would be interested to know if this is indeed the case?!?

There are existence of censorship in Singapore. Almost a decade ago, the censorship board last updated the censorship review. They even have catalogue report review dated September 2003 ( you can take a look at out National Library) It is an issue. The act of freedom to media is being curb to the point that, sometimes me, as a Singaporean think that we should be expose to the right things, at the right time. Am i making any logic here..? hahaha....but thats all i wanna say.. Smiley

this place does have a reputation for being pretty strict but what I found funny is that they allow a show like DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES on here.

I watched the film 300 on HBO here and it was totally cut from what I saw in the U.S. version, but DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES....?
