They are not meant to be house pets. It's pretty irresponsible to offload these ferocious dogs if you cannot keep them for a lifetime.

... you know??? Have you met the dogs yet? Let's not be overly dramatic here! If the dogs have been properly socialized when young and have good basic training, they would be far less "ferocious" than most of the chihuahuas I see around here! Having said that, these breeds are NOT for first time dog owners! Good luck rehoming the dogs, but do be responsible and find the "right" kind of people to adopt the dogs.

To Killers,
Please do not presume or make any unnecessary comments. This is about adoption and I did not mention that they are ferocious. So please keep your bloody mouth shut.
To How do :
Thanks for your nice comfort and advice. I do know there are people who adopt and sell the dogs again. I am not the owner. I do rescue and rehome of dogs for owners who cant get to keep their dogs due to unforeseen circumstances.
I also am a stray feeder. The dogs are from a responsible owner who has socialise and trained them to be a very good house pet. I am doing very strict screening for those who tried calling me. So not to worry.

You are exactly what your nick says, an asshole bully who cannot see reason. Here's a recent article from the net about your precious dogs that you have lost interest in.
ONE of my friends, who lives in Scotland, is a registered breeder of rottweilers.
From her, I've learnt that the rottweiler was bred in Germany for the specific purposes of guarding and personal protection.
These dogs, she tells me, are dangerous in the hands of a novice owner. They are animals that respond in a very instinct-driven way.
So, it is difficult to understand why some people would want so casually to keep them as pets.
The problem with rottweilers is that, as a breed, they have been engineered to become killing machines. The bite from a rottweiler is much harder than the bite from, say, an alsatian. So how do we control their presence in your peaceful neighbourhood? A good way is to license them – not the dogs, the owners.
To be able to get a licence to own and control this type of dog, the potential owner should be required to first undergo some training.
After all, if you want to handle another killing machine – the family car – you need to pass a driving test.
So, why not pass a test to control a rottweiler?
We have read of too many cases of dog owners who are not capable or strong enough to control their dogs.
One hears of how loving and wonderful someone's "rottie" is and then we learn how it tore another animal or child to ribbons.
A friend of mine has two daughters, aged 7 and 5, and both have been cornered by large and seemingly aggressive dogs – let loose and unleashed – in the park near their house.
When confronted about their rampaging animals, the dog owners would, at best, give a blank stare, like the victim was the one with a problem.
I would like to see rottweilers banned as a pet.
If not, a muzzle and leash must be important pieces of the rottweilers' wardrobe, and they should never be allowed to leave home without them.

Sure they have good temperament. Right before they rip off the arm of a little girl who happens to be walking her dog when their careless asshole owner forgets to latch the gate of his house. There were reports of such attacks in the local press a few years ago when an owner was taken to court after several of his 'friendly' rotties attacked a passer by. The owner's excuse? His maid inadvertently left the gate unlocked.

Killers, you have a major problem.
First it seems you can't read. The OP is not the irresponsible owner who is trying to offload these dogs as you try to describe. OP is a stray feeder AND helping to find a home AND make sure that it is the right kind of new owner to the breed.
Your whole post about Rottweilers only says you know nothing of dogs. With the right training, ANY dog can be a good house pet, regardless of the breed, even a pit bull. There are aggressive dogs in ANY breed and with such temperament, even a lab, considered a best dog for families with dogs, can turn into a killer dog if not trained properly.
I have had 2 friends with Rottweilers, they were so well trained, had such good temperament and were way gentler than a lot of other dogs I have encountered!
OP, good luck and I think you're doing a great job helping stray dogs and rehoming dogs that get abandoned. Wish I could help, but I already have 2 dogs myself...

Thanks OMG, sadly some poeple cant read well and the level of his / her intelligence level is so limited.
I am currently still on a look out for good responsible owners. Dogs are with their current owner still. He will let them go once I can find a good home for them. Reasons he letting them go is due to many business trips and hence has little time for them.
If you have friends looking for a pet. Do encourage adoption. Stop the puppy mills business.

So what that the dogs are not your own and your "friend's"? All it does is transfer the irresponsibilty from "Bully" to "friend". For all we know, they are one and the same. For those who say rotties can be trained to be gentle, sure, maybe 95% of the time. But when they see other dogs walking by, their base instinct and territorial nature take over and that's when trouble begins. Don't you understand the bit about how rotties were breeded for their ability to attack ie guard duties and are engineered to kill?

I believe this thread is about adoption and not about your point of view. Please do not dirty this thread.
Bully, you are doing a great job in strays rescuing and rehoming. It is a noble job. I am from Finland and I keep bull terriers and Rott back home. They are great dogs to have.
As I am staying in a small apartment, I can't help you much in keeping them. But I would be able to help spread the words for you. Keep up the good work and hope they found good owners.
In the meantime, I would be very much interested to know about your group and hope I can extend any help to the stray animals. Let me know.

To Bully apologists: Just because you are dog lovers doesn't mean you have to leave your brains on the floor. Rotties, being a ferocious breed that they are, and that in many countries owners are required to have a special licence to keep them is factual, not an opinion. And what is it that you are expressing if not an opinion when you breathlessly fawned over OP and his good work? Bull terriers and rotties may make sense in Finland which has huge expanse of space and sparse human population. Why do you need to have them as 'house pets' in teeny Singapore is questionable. My original post still stands. If the owner could not provide for the dogs for their lifetime, he shouldn't have acquired them. Did you dump your dogs in Finland? Do you also dump your family when your priorities in life change?

"Killer" clearly needs anger management training, we're better off ignoring him/her Anyway, OP, pls do let us know if you've found anyone. I will also ask around. When I just came to Singapore, I fostered a dog for a while for ASD, who was terrified of men as she was abused but with my husband's very careful and gentle approach, she sat on his lap in 4 days, a very rewarding experience. Kudos to your work!
