What got my goat was the statement by OP that the dogs were "from a responsible owner." Really? There are numerous breeds of dogs out there suitable as house pets but this guy happened to choose two that are known for their ferocity. Why? So he could feel that his nuts are a lot bigger than they really are?! And then offloading them because he had no time to look after them? Are these acts of responsibility?

I love dogs, but I would never, ever consider having a Rottie in my home.  I have young children and would never want to take that risk.

If you get a dog from the SPCA they won't let you adopt a dog like a Rottie (or any of the other considered dangerous breeds) if you have children who are under the age of 13.  I think that's really responsible of them - so perhaps it is best to go to places like the SPCA if you want to get a dog. You will get much more support from them than if you adopt from someone who is moving out of the country or simply doesn't want their dog anymore.

Dont even know if there is such a breed as a mini bull terrier.  Years ago there were mini Beagles advertised but I had CASE intervene as there is no such thing as a mini Beagle.

There are mini bull terriers and the are even recognised by the AKC.  Google them - there is a lot of info on them.  No need to go to CASE this time.  Even so, I would never ever have one in a house with children or old people and especially with a rottie as well.  Whilst I do agree that there are more bad owners than bad dogs out there, these two would require a very special owner who really knew the breeds and how to handle them, especially as they are being passed on and you are not getting them as puppies nor do you know their history or that of their parents.

There is a dog next door to us that looks like a rottie. Not sure if they are allowed here or it is a cross breed. You only have to look in it's direction for it to start attacking the wall as if it wants to rip your head off. In fact this is one of the reasons why I will move out of here at the end of my contract. I have 2 small kids and I am scared that one day it's going to jump over the wall or my kids are going to lean over and have their face ripped off by it.

Dear dog lovers,

My wife and I have always wanted to rear a pure breed Miniature Schnauzer or Poodle.  However, we have heard stories of pet shops mistreating female dogs to keep reproducing. Therefore, we have decided NOT to support such unethical business model.

We would like to appeal to anyone who knows of any adoption. We are willing to have an agreement with the original dog owner to ensure that the dog will be well taken care of.

Regards,
Ryan

Good on you.  I felt the same and just put the word around amongst friends that I was looking for a mini schnauzer or westie to adopt. Only took a couple of months and someone smsed me about  two 7 month old schnauzers looking for a home.  We took them.

Beware though that a lot of dogs that are rehomed have behavioural problems.  That is often the reason they are being rehomed.  You may need to be prepared to invest a lot of time and energy training them/undoing their bad habits.  We got there in the end but it was difficult.

If you google "dog forum singapore' there is a forum that has an adoption section.  Lots of pedigrees regularly come up for adoption on there.  I think you have to registar.

Hi,

I was going thru all ads posting (eg. 88dB; pets channel & any others) for adoption of a dog.  Would like to share my recent encountered.

To my surprise, there were many people post their 'sale' under the 'adoption'.  My encountered is of such, the pet owner who claimed loved her dog very much and is only willing to sell her pet only she finds her dog a family who can love & care for her.

Before the meet up, I was requested to keep her update/ informed of her pet should I one day decide not to keep any pet (yes I understand there are many impulsive owner).  Since she's a genuine request from a pet lover and not a breeder, I agreed to her request.

Me & my kid like the dog so much, we confirmed to adopt her @ the cost of S$700 and 2 days later.  I got a sms from the owner suggesting me to abid to this refund clause before she release the dog to me:-

1)  refund full amt S$700 within 1 week from date of collection;
2)  refund half the amt S$350 after 1 week from date of collection

When I replied her that 'I do not agreed with the refund amt but will contact her', she called off the deal.

I really very very disappointed to this string of clauses abid to this selling condition.  Firstly, my view is that the dog seem to be a commodity to her and was used to trade for $$$ and like as what I thought initially, care for the dog to be in a home who can continue to love her dog.

Secondly, why must I sell it back to the previous owner if says I want to sell the dog?  With all the courses the dog will be going for - obedience & agility classes, and is my pet after I take her.

I to make the decision of how much to sell if I decide to sell the dog.  But not that, I must definitely return the dog back to her and I only take back half the amount of what I paid!

This is really really unreasonable and ridiculous.  The good thing is that, with GOD grace the only preparation I made while waiting for her to come is making her a personnal name tag and some dog toys.

I called up the name tag supplier explaining to him that my seller changed her mind.  Really is GOD blessing that the supplier told me not to worry just give him a call back when I get the new dog, and he'll arrange & re-do me a new one without any additional cost.

I pray that the dog can find a good home and in good care.............  Now, I'll just continue on my search for one.

what has God got to do with finding a dog?

If you want a dog go to the SPCA and adopt one there - you'll only have to pay about $120 - no Gods involved.
