You guys must have read about this. So the classified section doubling in pages over the past 2 weeks was no flash in the pan.

Rents are on the way up.

It's good that hiring is up but it has no effect on rentals.

You still don't seem to know how MNC's work. They will decide to send expats as and when they see it necessary, not according ST ads. Right now they are cost-cutting and hiring locals to replace expats  For all we know they maybe even causing the increase in classifieds. And locals don't rent. Sorry.

We don't have that many locals to fill up the posts. 50% of all vacancies have to be filled up by foreigners based on past employment trends. If you don't know this then you should take the first flight back home. THERE CANNOT BE A BIG JUMP IN HIRING WITHOUT FOREIGNERS BEING EMPLOYED. Get this into your thick skull. When foreigners are employed they have to get housing. UNDERSTAND IMBECILE. Stop making a fool of yourself.

resorting to name calling when not fully understand the big picture. Way to go.

The majority of the "FT" will not earn enough to rent private property. They will be given subsidized accommodation. The rest will go for HDB's, not condo. What happened with IR that just opened? It had ZERO effect with rentals.

The only way to get rentals increasing is to send expats who will rent, preferrably with housing allowance. Unfortunately that is not happening.

The basis is that companies are hiring again period. I have mates who worked in London docklands and they are all planning to head over here as this is the main place for financial jobs at the moment.  Hong Kong is hiring too.
