The point the OP is trying to make is that it is a weird thing to happen. I agree.  Things just shouldn't go missing like that.  She isnt making it her day focus but wondering if anything could have happened she hasnt thought about.  In my view all that can have happened is they could be damaged and hidden or misplaced or stolen. Stolen is weird because while I have heard of second hand uniforms being traded, just one shirt and a couple of shorts that would be noticed isn't really worth it.

This post says everything that is wrong with the expat stay at home woman.  With nothing to stimulate her she has become mindless and trivial.  People in the real world have more important and relevant things to deal with.

Ask the maid.   Deal with it.  Get a life!

It's not surprising that there are so many threads about Expat men having affairs.  Who wouldn't want to escape from a woman like this?

I find it rather sad that the conclusion jumped to is that the maid has stolen it rather than it's been misplaced. Why on earth would you have someone that you don't trust in your home?

Re value of stolen uniforms - is it from a top tier school, as that would obviously bump up the price?  Roll Eyes

I seem to lose one sock of a pair on a regular basis. I don't have a maid. Should I be worried? Is the neighbour's maid stealing my socks??!?!? ;^)

You'd have to have one really dim maid to steal a school uniform - what mother doesn't know the exact number of uniform shirts and shorts she has for each child? Duh. If it really doesn't turn up somewhere in your house, I'd start keeping a closer eye on things.

Guilty as charged - I have no idea how many uniform shirts/shorts each of my children has!

OP - you seem to be convinced that your maid has 'stolen' the uniform.  Isn't this rather presumptive?

I've got a little pile of odd socks in a drawer waiting for their partner to turn up.  Occasionally they do - I found one under the couch the other day and another in a duvet cover that I hadn't used for ages, but the amount of socks in the little pile seems constant.

I've checked all the locks and I'm fairly certain that next door's maid can't get in and we don't have one, nor a dog, so I'm assuming it must be the kids who are eating them.  Perhaps I should 'up' their fibre intake  Cheesy

I saw your user name "one night stand" and opened the thread thinking you were going to suggest that th maid had a one night stand and dressed up in the uniform for titillative purposes  Grin

Well, I guess if you weren't the one to buy the uniforms in the first place, but I know how many tops and bottoms I bought at the beginning of the school year for each of mine. Whatever. I really doubt the maid stole them - they are either in someone else's closet or drawers and they'll turn up or she ruined them in the wash and won't admit it.

I find posts like this one quite intriguing. "Enlightening" has gone to great effort to put down 'expat stay at home women/mothers' claiming that they become 'mindless and trivial.' But, by making such an effort to read posts from such women and then to comment negatively on them, what does the poster say about him or herself? Surely the commentary on posters like "Enlightened" is much more damning - I mean, what kind of life must this person have to need to make these comments time and again??

because someone starting a thread about this (and come on, really it is) trivial and pathetic "problem" really makes us so-called expat stay-at-home women/mothers seem so dumb... Angry  Some of us do have a brain and life!  Wink

unfortunately we choose to waste said brain and life replying to topics like this  Roll Eyes

LOL, try and wriggle out of it if you can those who pretend they have a life, but you can't post about it and then try and exclude yourself - you had to have been sitting somewhere doing nothing but reading the board to have come across the site in the first place, so replying just confirms your lack of life at that particular point in time.

And now you can't reply, because if you do it means that not only did you not have a life an hour or two ago, you've still not got one  Tongue
