I wondered if anyone has advice as to where to find cheap flights from Singapore to LA and returning one year later. Or perhaps a good Agent I could contact. I am enquiring of behalf of my son.
Hopefully one of you out there can steer me in the right direction.

I don't know if there's a specific reason you'd need an agent but if keeping cost down is your primary concern, why not just use the internet?  Orbitz, Priceline or Travelocity would be good sites to start.  At the least, they will give you perspective on what you should/can pay.

Good luck!

Can't sleep either Hsgreenb? Thanks. The main reason for not using the net is can't seem to get the return date to be open or for as far away as a year later.

Hi KSF,

I'm actually 13 hours behind you.  I'm still in the US.  Not arriving in Singapore for another 5 weeks.

Anyway, I wanted to plant a seed....I'm buying a one way ticket out there and I've also checked out round trip prices in case I want to come back to the States for a visit.  I've found one way tickets that are about 50% of a round trip so you might just get a one way online now & then buy the return one way 10 or 11 months from now.

That way, you save yourself any surcharges an agent might tack on.

My thing is, why insert a human being who'll charge you into an equation that can be satisfied with a little online self-service.

Either way, I'm sure you'll find what you need.  Best of luck!

Just for your info. You can not have a one way ticket to Singapore unless you have a work visa etc. you have to have an onward.

Most cheap tickets have a limited validity of 1-6mths, sometimes even less. Max validity for a ticket is 12mths, you won't be able to get anything more than that. Few agencies will issue an open ticket these days, most will just ask that you pick a date but ensure that your fare class allows you to change the return date without a penalty/change fee.

If you really need a year long ticket, you'll have to get a travel agent or buy directly from the airline, and it will be a higher fare class than what you normally see advertised.

Google "airfares singapore" and try contacting the first agency listed. I've used them for air tickets and their fares are very competitive. They are more a bricks & mortar agency, and the online portion is just an enquiry request. You can call them directly or visit in person, it'll probably be faster.
