The dating scene for expat women

The expat men here seem to prefer local women who may not have as much in common with them.

I'm seriously thinking of packing up and heading home 'cos the dating scene seems so dismal. 

Put them side by side, the little local lass and the expat woman and easy to understand why.

There are other alternatives to heading home.. try dieting, exercise etc.

Yes, it's true that some single expat men do want to date Asian women when they first arrive.  It's part of the expat experience and probably seems very exotic initially.  After a couple of years even they settle down and all that they want is a relationship - a good relationship - and that could be with a Scandinavian Blonde or am Asian girl.  Relationships here are really not that different from anywhere else in the world but somehow Western women tend to feel that they are being somehow over-looked and that in turn makes them desperate, needy and clingy.  Not characteristics to display if you are seriously hoping to attract someone!

The OP is not a gold digger for wanting a partner of equal socio-economic status.  She is however in danger of making herself unattractive because of preconceptions.  Most men in Singapore really want someone to talk to - cultivate real friendships and the rest will follow.

So she's just an impossible-to-please princess? No wonder the men are staying away from her.

Except those educated from Stamford, interrogate men they date, examine their potential billionaire status, play hard-to-get wrongly (and bitch about it non-stop later), lie non-stop and alienates everyone while over-compensating for their sense of inferiority.

Contemporary women don't have much in common with the present species of men.  Intelligent successful and assertive women are the "New women".  They are looking for the "New Men" i.e. those who believe in equality of the sexes, share housework and chores, in touch with their emotions, take care of their health, etc.  Such men are as as rare as hen's teeth.

Men of today haven't changed enough to sustain a healthy, balanced relationship with a woman in a relationship.  They prefer the "Old women" i.e. those who let men be men, who provide emotional support for men, take care of housework and the kids, are gentle and soft-spoken, etc...How many men really like the assertive, successful and forward women?  They claim they are "manly" enough to accept them as equals but secretly they fear being emasculated.

I'm afraid the OP represents a class of women who are increasing in numbers all over the world and more are remaining single for longer periods of time.  One suggestion is to enjoy whatever friendship, companionship and short-term liaisons there may be.

Give me a break guys! I have seen so many expat men date local girls who are thoroughly brainless! And suddenly these expat guys become "culturally senstitive" to the demure lasses who can but only smile and play "shy sensitive" type because they don't have the intelligence to hold a discussion on any level whatsoever.

The joke is that these expat guys marry these mainly Chinese local women and to their shock and horror discover that they've married into the entire family and the sweet young local thing can only use a squat toilet! And is unable to pay her own way.

And when she has the two kids, she gets fat, frumpy and bossy.

I've worked hard to get where I am, I am fit and beautiful - and this is the considered opinion of many women and men. I've worked hard to get this body and brain into shape. But if expat men can't get their act together.... the dating scene becomes miserable.

And I'm not the only intelligent expat woman (is there any other kind) with these observations.

I was feeling some empathy for you when I read your original post.  It's been downhill since then.  You've obviously got your sh*t together.  Right?  Then why are you being so pathetic and trolling around here for sympathy and advice?   

Maybe expat men don't want you because you're arrogant and racist.  Maybe its not that we're attracted to local women, but that we find women like you to be repulsive. 

Perhaps you'll be happier elsewhere, but don't blame it on men.

Us single expat women do laugh at expat losers like you who can't score with us so you go local. No, there are many fine expat men whom I'd (and other expat women) like to meet.
