The dating scene for expat women

I get asked out on average about 5 times a month by expat men. I don't have any issues - just an observation based on my being here for 3 years. I'd daresay I do know more people here than you do. I speak 2 of the local languages in addition to my own.

Do you, dear previous poster. Or are you miffed because the truth hurts?

Which truth are you referring to? I am not a local, I am a female and I am happily married. Have been for years. I am certainly not dumb, if being in the top management of a multi-national company at a young age is any indication. Being a mensa member might be another indication.

I don't know if you know more people here than I do and you don't know that either. But I have been here for 10 years and have a wide circle of friends, both locals and expats.

Maybe it does not only depend on how many people we know but the type of people we know?

Now my observation still stands. Some men like dumb women, and some don't. Some locals are dumb and many aren't. Same goes for expat or Caucasian women.

Attractive women get asked out more often than the less attractive ones. That's common sense isn't it?

Now I dare say that just because you get asked out often does not mean that you're not jealous of local women. Why else would you disparage the locals?

Come on, sister. It's unbecoming and if you speak two of the languages here you must have assimilated pretty well. Please don't look down on local women out of envy. Live and let live.

I must say that I've observed that the people most likely to rail against local women are the Western ones competing with them for Western men. Those happily in relationships on the other hand simply shrug and say "Where are the stupid subservient local women? There are about as many or as few here as there are back home".

How many people on this thread are actually expat women? Very few, by the looks of the posts.

Almost all the posters here have been: a) expat men with an axe to grind, trying to have a pop at the Western women b) local women trolling on an expat board, now with an axe to grind as they resent being likened to SPG's. Both groups of posters have an agenda, and it is as as plain as the chicken rice on their plates.

And yet, the Western women are the ones continuously being referred to as those who have the problem.

This is my personal observation.

Average looking caucasian woman is likely to get as much attention in Asia/Singapore as a gorgeous looking caucasian woman, simply because they are rare.

I have a few friends who belong to the tall blue eyes blonde or green eyes brunette and they have endless number of suitors here.

A few of my guy friends said these girls are considered average back home (where they are from) but in Singapore, they are very popular, simply because there is an obvious high demand for rarity.

Of course, demand for fat women (caucasian or chinese) are generally low, regardless which country you are at.

If he couldn't do the same things I did nor accompany me overseas for the holidays I enjoyed, that doesn't mean I only go out with guys who fly first class.

Perhaps that's why you fly cattle class all the time in the company of SPGs?

My experience in Singapore (and I will have more experience in two months time) strongly suggests that the only expat women I have seen with locals are either white South Africans (those who cannot find expat men) or East European women, who are trying to stay out of their home countries. To this day, I have not seen one white American or Brit woman with a local Singaporean man, and I have seen only one Aussie woman with a local Singaporean man and I wander Orchard road and other expat hangouts all the time. May be I am wrong. Correct me and give me evidence if I am!

I see hundreds of expat women with local men - oh, do you mean CAUCASIAN women?    I have several caucasian girlfriends that are married to Indian or Malay men - no knowledge of anyone dating or married to a man of Chinese ethnicity but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.  My girlfriends are either British (3) or American (2).

I'm white, and my partner is a local Malay guy. Three of my colleagues are white women married to local men and as the PP said, they are local Indian or Malay guys. I only know one expat lady who's married to a local Chinese guy, so it does happen.

There are obviously fewer mixed-race couples that mix this way, but we are out here!
