Hello all,

As I am going through a maze of information can any US expat pls share any info they may have
on company contribution to a retirement fund in singapore. We are moving through the same company I am employed with and have a 401k for which my employer contributes 6%.
Though I have reached out to the company HR in Singapore but have not heard anything yet.
Thanks in advance.

1.  Singapore has a mandatory deduction for their pension program, which is called CPF (Central Provident Fund, I believe).  Then the employer has a contribution as well.

2.  That only applies to citizens and PR's.

3.  If you are on an employment pass, there is no deduction or contribution whatsoever.  You get paid your full salary.

4.  My US 401k is still sitting there.  My company said I couldn't contribute to it as I wasn't on the US payroll.  But, that might just be my company.

5.  I used that as part of my salary negotiation.

"Kindly Advice"?  You're sure picking up on the local patois at an amazing rate! Wink

Nothing stops you from setting up your own IRA or Roth IRA in the US with contributions direct from you and no company contribution.
