Do any Hilton or other major corporate hotels have a bit of charm?

Just wondering.

I love the area of Seminyak.  Check out trip advisor for the hotels in that region but the Legian and Breezes are gorgeous at the upper end of the price scale, Villa Lumbung is good value for money and in a great spot.  an alternative is to go to a private villa - there are loads around that area that are good value and close to everthing.

If you don't go to Bali, the Hilton (the one on the River) in Bangkok is fantastic.  SInce you have older children it would be perfect for a weekend break.  They have a great pool area, the breakfast is amazing and of course they have their boats that take you across the river.  Great shopping for silver and nik naks if you're into that.

Bali is an over priced overly exagerated dump that is hailed by people who don't get around much.

I got the impression that the OP is really after somewhere to spend their Hilton points.  I suppose that's why Bangers suggested the one in Bangkok, as it's a nice Hilton.

Why not try the tripadvisor site? (Google tripadvisor hilton bali).
I did and ther are 177 comments there.  The most recent posting was 2 March 2010 and about 8-9 other comments from this year.

Just to be a little pedantic, but you're probably looking for the Conrad Bali. The only reason I mention this is because for years, Hilton did not have a presence in Bali as the name was 'hijacked' by another hotel. If you google Hilton Bali you will see it associated with another hotel. Looks like the rogue "Hilton" hotel is no longer using that name, but the confusion still exists to some measure. So if you want info on a Hilton property in Bali, you must make sure you're getting the right Hilton, and that Hilton's presence in Bali is the Conrad.

Why so rude and insulting? I DO go to a LOT of some wonderful places - and yes I include Bali on that list. Just because you don't bother looking past " the rice fields and people trying to rip you off' doesn't mean we all see it that way. I'm glad I don't have people around me like YOU when I travel  Roll Eyes
Back to OP's point - it's in Nusa Dua - not the most exciting area in Bali but depends what you want. It'll be a nice hotel with good facilities but you will need taxis/a driver to get to anywhere. Beach is safe for kids. As your daughters are teenage maybe staying somewhere closer to Seminyak would be better (more choice of shops and restaurants) though the beach is more for surfers. Or you could get up to Ubud away from the coast.

Thanks so much so far for some of your helpful replies Smiley

Ideally I would like a nice beach area.  Which is best with some good restuarants and shops nearby? (not too crazy though)

Starting to think about a 3 bed villa but have a budget max US$400 a night so any help appreciated
