Have never been and would like a nice beach area but not too quiet but not too full on either

Would you recommend Seminyak for a family holiday(children teenagers) or is there a nicer part of the island

Was thinking of Nusa Dua but heard thats very quiet

Looking for a villa rather than hotel

thank you

I love this area of Bali and in fact am going back for my 5th time this April.  There are some great villas and some great hotels - I like the area around about where Ku De Ta is - the beach there is good for a bit of boogie boarding and its pretty quiet i.e. only one or two hawkers.  Whatever you do stay away from Kuta unless you are under 25 and just wanting to party.  Nusa Dua is great for resorts and water sports and whilst quiet there is a lot of activities available for teenagers - so if you like staying in your resort and doing all the resorty things then Nusa Dua is for you.

With teenage children, I think they will appreciate Seminyak a little more. Nisa Dua is nice but less "happening" in the "teenage sense".

I stayed in Uma Sapna 2 years back and I love it. The location is inside a small lane, but once you walk out of the lane (2 minutes), you are on the main road. Very convenient for shopping, dining, getting taxis, motorbikes, etc.

I took the 1 bedroom villa and the toilet is "open-concept", i.e. there is no door, its just panel of walls behind the bed. If you are taking the 2 or 3 bedrooms villa, you might want to double check on the villa specifications.

I also prefer Seminyak -- better shopping and better selection of restaurants.  In Nusa Dua you would be basically confined to the hotel grounds and facilities.  It also doesn't have much "Balinese" flavor -- the hotels there look like they could be anywhere in the world that's tropical, and remind me a lot of places in Hawaii.  They should call it Nusa Dulla. Undecided
