We are leaving SG in a couple of months, and one of the questions that I have in mind is in what state of cleanliness are we expected to leave the apartment after all our goods are moved out?
In the tenancy agreement the only reference seems to be:
'(Tenant's Agreements)
- To use the premises in a tenant-like manner and in particular...
- To deliver the Premises and the furniture at the end of the term clean, tidy and in the accordance with the provisions of this Agreement'.
- re: last line, there appear to be no other 'provisions'.
- Does the above suggest that we are expected to get a cleaning company in after our packing-up day (as all our goods, including cleaning goods etc will be packed and gone, in parallel with beds, desks etc being moved inevitably revealing dust and grime?)
I am a multiple landlord in London and so have gone through this many times over many years 'from the other side' in London. I'm just trying to guage the SG-nuance and expectation, and where we stand on our growing pre-move job-list.
Thx
We have moved a couple times here in Singapore and both times we just hired a cleaning lady to clean after we moved out our stuff, that seemed to work so far. The first time the LL didn't inspect, we just handed over the keys and that was it. However the last time we moved, the LL was very anal and wanted to go through each and every appliance before handing back the deposit e.g. let the air con run for two weeks (to see if it
really works), try out the oven for real etc. Cleaning was never an issue though.
