I was amazed when CS refused to deliver "fresh" goods.  I came from Tokyo - the summers there are just as hot (if not hotter) and the big supermarkets there delivered everything (except perhaps ice-cream!). They just placed the bagged goods in large re-usable plastic boxes and packed dry ice around them. On delivery they'd empty the boxes and take them back. Did this weekly for years and never had a problem.

judging from the very "flexible" delivery times here they are just making sure they can't be blamed if some of the food gets spoiled even if the delivery gets delayed a day.

ah, is it that bad then? I didn't bother after that as most of my shopping was "fresh" - cartons of juice, milk etc- so I lugged it back in a taxi...

well to add my two cents worth, I order online regularly from Fairprice and, apart from the fact that you can't get veg and fruit or frozen goods, the selection and service have always been good.  And I ordered every month from Tesco in the UK and there was always some drama - I always got someone else's items mixed in with mine (which is a bonus as you don't pay for it) but sometimes  you really don't need 100 tealights...Never had any mistakes with Fairprice here and the customer service calls promptly if they have to make any changes

I get quite a lot of mistakes with them but on the plus side they sometimes do things like once they delivered a 10kg bag of rice to me in error and I called them back and told them and they said they'd collect it and never did so I didn't have to buy rice for months.

I've heard of a couple of other grocery delivery services (mentioning no names!) where the guys buy in bulk from places like Carrefour & pass it on, but will also buy specific items/brands on request.  Has anyone used these?

most families have 2 or 3 generation live together, the retired have plenty of time do offline grocery, and the workings have plenty of time shopping and out on weekend.

i am single person family, i used to order heavy things online, trouble when come to deliver window. they can never be reasonably on time, so half day tired up waiting for deliver man. NTUC, cold storage, same. and often call back say this and that out of stock.

so stop now.

I'm not sure about that - if you call any of the online delivery places in the run up to Chinese New Year, you'd be lucky to get a slot within 2 weeks.

Latest from NTUC (Fairprice) - they're hopeless.  Twice in the past 2 months I've put an order in only for them to call me and ask if they could deliver it in 2 or 3 days because the stock wasn't due in until then.  Yet if you go in to any of their shops they'll have all the things you need right there (just not the delivery service for you to be able to buy it there and then and have it delivered to you!).

So they either need to sort their warehouse out so that their online service runs more efficiently or they need to start offering free delivery (if you spend over a certain amount) from their own stores, because their online shop is useless.

I've spoken to them in the past about this but they just fobbed me off with excuses  Roll Eyes
