Hi,

I'm planning on relocating back to SG in the coming months. Was wondering if any of you know if SG uses the same FICO credit score used for US based credit cards. When I apply for a SG credit card does my credit history start from scratch or will my credit history here in the states carry over? Does SG even have a credit rating scoring method?

Thanks!

There is no such thing as a credit history in SG.  To get a credit card you have to be breathing - that's all.

The MAS simply stipulates that you can only have a credit limit up to a equivalent amount of two month salary.

Of course you can also have a CHARGE card like AMEX on top of that.

Yes, any foreigner will get a credit card.   Say goodbye to your FICO score..

Generally getting cards is easy, people on commission based jobs get problems though.

The 2x limit can be waived for non-pr/citzen.

Singapore does have its own credit bureau, to which all the banks and other licensed lenders (eg store credit cards) report on your payment history. If you establish a poor credit history here it will not help you. However, as PPs stated, there is no reference to your US credit history and if you have a job in Singapore and even a blank local credit history, then bob's your uncle.
