I have a problem that I can't solve from the information in my coffee machine instruction booklet.

My Saeco Talea Giro Plus coffee machine ran out of water during coffee making. I can't work out if the coffee dispensing can be continued with (after the water tank is refilled) or do you have to start the process again and make a new cup of coffee?

I would have thought that the machine would just continue from where it left off and finish making the coffee but it didn't.

Anyone struck this problem before?

Thanks  Smiley

Yeah i have that same problem. Its quite frustrating given you now have half a cup of coffee. The other one is the coffee beans with the same issue. It grounds them and then if it runs out, you fill the beans and it grounds the full amount again. What happens to the first half......

with the beans I think it fills up to capacity once you've refilled the beans and then grinds again what it was grinding before, plus what was just added (you get twice ground beans I suppose).

Not sure what happens with the water tank - ours used to remember what it was doing so you still got a normal cup.

We had a Saeco Cafe Nova but had so many problems with it once it got older that we ended up getting rid of it - I hope your machines are more successful than ours......shame really as it made nice coffee (when it was working!)

speaking of which, does anyone know the expected life of such a machine?  Ours lasted 6 years but the problems started after about 4 of them.  I've thought about getting another one but I'm not sure if it's worth it as it was quite an expensive machine.

I second the Nespresso.  No mess, no fuss just great coffee.

After 7 years with Saeco we have just purchased a Nespresso and love it.  The Saeco is a fantastic machine but the availability of good beans has become so hit and miss that we decided to opt for consistency which is what Nespresso gives.
We had a Magic which just topped up if we ran out of beans midway through the process.  From memory if we ran out of water the process would just stop and then start where it left off once the water cannister was full.  I think it has a sensor to determine whether there was sufficient water to complete the cup.
