Hello, I am just new here and my wife and I are planning to relocate to Singapore in early 2011 from Canada.  I am looking at the PEP as I make a good salary here and was wondering if people had experience with this specific EP and if it was harder to acquire?  Also I cannot find out any info if you need to maintain the $7,000 a month salary while in Singapore or if it is open.

Thanks in advance and any help is appreciated.

Edit: I found you need to maintain 30,000 annual salary under this pass.

Check the MOM (ministry of manpower) website if you haven't already. There are generally very good descriptions of prerequisites and ongoing conditions. Find the application form PDF and it should list all the required documentation. It has been my experience that MOM are very efficient and if all the instructions are followed then applications are processed super fast.

If you don't find the answer on the website (check thoroughly) then give them a call or email. Again: they are very helpful.

Me: on EP for 10yrs, with family, renewed several times, have hired others, no problems. I recall receiving something from MOM about PEP but never took them up on the offer.

Very easy to apply.  Was told 4 weeks but it took less than 2 to approve.
The PEP gives you 6 months to find a job so you don't have to have a job in Singapore to get one.

Bringing this back to life as I am curious about the application process; you can do it online but need a SingPass which you cannot seem to get until you have Work Permit.  Thus you need to do the manual but need to submit it in person at the Post Office so is there no way to do this remotely?

I am planning to arrive permanently in January - February so should I come in October to submit my paper work and see what happens?  I do have a local contact for mailing at least.

Thanks in advance!

PS Anyone want to hire an accountant with nearly 12 years experience Wink

Once you have PEP approval, you actually have 6mths before you need to pick it up (this can actually be done remotely I believe)  When you get here, you will probably (depending on where you are coming from) get a 3mth social visit pass, so there isn't really any hurry. I can appreciate though that you would want certainly that you can get a PEP before you move here

As far as I concerned, 2 things needs to be considered.

1. Once your application is accepted by MOM, you will get an Approval letter. You can enter into singapore within 6 months having the document and get the PEP visa.
2. After you get the PEP visa, you should be employed within 6 months.

If you are kneen to the process much better, lot many agencies are available to serve you.

Best Wishes.

Thanks for the answers but asking more about how I apply, can I have a local drop it off at the post office on my behalf?

Are you incapable of just picking up the phone and calling the MoM here to ask ? Very helpful people. Instead of trying to get others to answer the questions, just ring the source direct and get the correct info.

They turn out accountants by the thousands both here, within ASEAN and also the Indian subcontinent, expect a far lower salary than you have now if you manage to get a job.  Cost of living is high.
