Can anyone recommend a brand of stovetop espresso maker and place where to buy it? If you could also include a brand of coffee to use with it, that would be great to.

Thanks!

Mine is called Vev Vigano, it is a bit prettier than some of the standard ones.  I am a relative novice though at making coffee this way so looked up google for tips.  I can't really recommend coffee yet either sorry.

Bought a Lavazza one a while back in Carrefour. Found it was too narrow at the base to balance safely on my gas stove top but found little metal rests to sit over the burner in the hardware shop upstairs in at Shaw Centre. Have used Lavazza and Illy coffee with it.

I had one that I got from Ikea - it was fine, did the job.  I just tried different filter coffees until I found the one I liked best (I like the Brazilian coffee from Mr Coffee in Giant).  Trouble is though that the seal perished after a while and I ended up buying a plunger coffee pot instead which I now use - I could have probably got a new seal but as I'd bought the other coffee pot, I ended up getting rid of the stove-top one.

I've been using a stainless steel Bialetti 6 cups and the results have been excellent. While 6 cups sounds like a lot, it isn't. It is good for 2 - 3 people.

It may be hard to get Columbian coffee beans in Singapore but that's what I am using now. I find the Columbian coffee smoother on the palate, tends to roll around the mouth and has an enticing coffee aroma.

I decided against an aluminium stove top expresso because coffee is slightly acidic and will re-act with the aluminium.

Hope this helps

bialetti is one of the top-quality and thus safest bets.
