Wazzziz my child, am sure everybody wishes everybody well,
but the reality is all is not well right now. The volatile and
extreme happenings in businesses, finance, climate taking
place at frightening speed all over the globe will eventually
affect us given our interconnectedness one way or other.
The vast majority of the world being in the lower poor class
living in poverty will demand their fair share to exist. They are
without a voice and large unrepresented. When our water and
grain supplies get depleted, their numbers will count.
Can this happen and will this happen suddenly and swiftly
and how do city states cope with it, well let's leave it to the
imagination. We are right now enjoying relatively a "blip"
prosperity thanks to our better management but let us not
be complacent and ignore the realities around us. The
tsunami could come at any time.

I am indeed a newcomer to the shores of this lovely place.  My conribution has so far been small. In fact some may say since getting here, all I have done is eat and get drunk at the various establishments in the east coast.  Thats not all true.

Fortunately its not been all about eating and drinking (at the weekends it is)-  I have been putting my time to good use while my new wife is out at work and getting clued in on the real estate sector and hopefully will be playing my part out there soon. I have a much greater understanding of the mechanics & dynamics of the business than I had a year ago.

And fortunately I have connected to all the right people since getting here and I am learning the craft from the very best there is in the business and attended the right seminars.  Its not just about form filling.

I'm so pleased to hear you are finally finding success here in Singapore. You are now one of many who have come here empty and really made their mark.

I guess your required mark is pretty low, the useless bum even admits he hasn't achieved anything yet.

The nice thing about this board is the little pearls of wisdom that are so cleverly intertwined with the mindless 'yes it is' 'no its not' or 'I can pi$$ further than you' or 'My dog is bigger than yours' etc.

Anyway a year ago I was listening to all the arguments when I said it was on the up and everyone telling me it was on the way down.  So i decided to watch and wait and let the market prove itself. All the people I know in the industry told me it was on the up one year ago.  Some of them have been in this game for a long time.

When these guys talk and give presentations, you keep your eyes open, your brain in gear and your gob shut.  These guys know what they are tallking about.

Get along to the seminars.  Look in the ST they are advertised there.

I am job hunting at the mo yes, but planning to go on training to be an estate agent as I have realised that my passions lie there and not in investment products.  I had briefly joined an insurance firm but this was not for me.

Doing as much groundwork as possible to get into real estate.

My wife is an advisor at a rather well known local bank so she knows the investment business inside out...

Real Estate is the way to go.  The guys on the higher rungs of the real estate ladder earn a serious crust.  Mind you they work their butts off for it.

These seminars, and the ones on fx trading, options, whatever are run by people who can't make the money playing the respective games themselves, that is why they stand up in front of people who know even less than them.

I agree, way to go wazziz, real estate is the best career choice these days. if you want a leg up there is a seminar on how to make millions in condos. I will obtain the details. Even though i am already both a professional financial advisor and a real estate agents for my sins, I still think there is more I can learn. the seminar is being given by one of the agents in the higher rungs of the business that moves amongst Singapores social elite. I  think he may also have shown a good friend of mine, a senior at a bank that my wife met, his condo!
