Hi all,

I just moved here with an 8 week old 4 days ago and have run out of Lansinoh Breast Cream. I am having trouble finding any online/at local pharmacy. Please help me ASAP, also any advice on where to purchase breast shields would be appreciated.

I would prefer online (a little tricky to get out with the little guy at the moment).

Thanks so much!

Hi OP

I'm afraid online shopping is not easy here - someone may be able to give you different advice, but it just doesn't really happen here.

I'm pretty sure I've seen nipple shields in Cold Storage in Great World City - I'm going tomorrow so I can check.

And I think you can get lansinoh at Mother's work - also in Great World City.  But might be worth calling them to check first.  Be aware that they don't open till 11am.

You might have to send your other half out shopping for you.

The other thing you might want to consider is getting a breast feeding consultant to have a look at your breast feeding.  Breast feeding shouldn't hurt (I never believed this with my first child, and it was only after a few weeks of agony with my second that I had a consultant look at my positioning, change it slightly, and: no more pain!!).  They have breast feeding consultants at Mother and Child in Tanglin Mall.  No idea if they would do a home visit, but otherwise it might be worth you going to see them (and if you do, there's also a cold storage and mother's work in Tanglin Mall).

Good luck - ouch!

There is no reason why you should be using cream or shields while breastfeeding an 8 week old!  I am also concerned that you don't feel you can go out to a shop with this child because it is too difficult.

I think an appointment with a counsellor or midwife is in order to check on both your breastfeeding method and PND ...

There's not enough information in the OP's post to indicate she has any issues. Give it a rest. She's asked a simple question and one of the posters has provided some very helpful advice but the PP, no reason to read more into the situation.

Thankyou SO much to your response!! I wasn't under the impression I had a problem either. I misused my terminology I meant breast pads instead of shields.

I have a broken arm, so absolutely position and getting outside a tad tricky at the moment, but as the wonderful person responded, was simply after some answers....

Mothercare might have breast pads, I don't know if they'd have the cream though - you could ring them and ask.

You could try giving your husband a list and sending him out to get the stuff if you can't get it at an online pharmacy.

Posting half assed will get you half assed answers ...

If you had said you couldn't get out because you had a broken arm, no one would have suggested that something was wrong.

You said breast shields and you meant breast pads.

You still should NOT need cream on your nipples at 8 weeks post partum!

Not sure you should be getting pissed at someone that was suggesting you might have a problem and could use professional help.   No one was rude to you.

PP you are a sweet heart aren't you?

OP ignore it, obviously has some issues. Your husband will def be able to get breast pads in Mothercare.

Hi OP

Wow there's are some nasty people out there at the moment - please ignore them - we're not all like that!!

Anyway, just to let you know, in addition to nipple shields (which you don't need!), I checked today and cold storage have breast pads too.

Good luck - you've got a lot going on with an 8 week old, a new country, and a broken arm.... and sore nipples!!

oh don't worry, it's always a bit like that here and I suspect it's usually just one person who's having a bad day.  Just be glad you weren't asking for formula milk - they really come crawling out of the woodwork when formula is mentioned!!  Tongue

you can get breast pads at the supermarkets.
I get my nipple cream (medela brand) at the hospital pharmacy or departmental store's (eg. CK Tangs) baby section

Mothercare has the cream and several brands of pads.  You can find it at Haborfront, Paragon and several other shopping malls.  Good luck!

Just on the nipple cream, wheatgerm oil is fabulous for cracked or irritated nipples and no nasty synthetic additives to affect baby or mother.  You should be able to find it at Watsons, Guardian or Living Pharmacy.
