does anyone know if there is an organisation here that collects old prescription glasses? - 'boots' in the u.k. used to have a collection bin and was wondering if there was anything similar here.  thanks.

Yes, there are collections. I have even seen boxes in Cold Storage, but most recently at my opticians Specialist Eyecare, GWC (there is another branch in Plaza Singapura).
