Yasmin - you are correct about the income requirements for your local partner. I would advise you that in the circumstances referring to your relationship in your application may work against you. I know this seems unfair but the authorities would expect your partner to be in a position to support you himself if he is to sponsor you.
You do not say what your qualifications are or what type of work you are applying for. To be successful you will preferably need to meet two criteria - have a degree, and to be able to offer skills which are not readily available locally. Your best course of action is to first find a Company which wants to employ you, and then to get their HR department to make the application on your behalf.
As the father of three daughters forgive me if I offer a little personal advice. Do your homework first before you decide to move here. With your partner being a student you will need to consider if the two of you can afford the everyday costs of living together such as housing, utilities, food, etc. I fully understand your desire to be with the person you love, but consider if it is better to wait until your partner has finished his studies. Good luck to the pair of you.
