Looking for a romantic getaway for 3 - 4 days in Oct that's not too difficult to get to i.e. no more than 4 hours flying time.  Just the two of us - no kids (we need a break from them!)  Nice place with ambience would be appreciated, moderate cost.  Just need to chill in a nice atmosphere - entertainment not necessary as we'll create our own!  Wink

a private villa in Bali.  A villa in Phuket.  I am very jealous.  My husband and I have never been away together without the kids - pre kids we were broke and now with kids we are expats so no close relatives to look after them.

Phuket, Bali, Lankawi.....all are truly amazing romantic getaways and I am jealous as well. The last time we traveled without kids was our honeymoon and the only thing I remember about that is walking (or rather running) behind hub through streets of KL and throwing up after a "thrilling romantic ride" in Genting Cry (He actually thought that hiking a city and going up to sky and a free fall down is romantic  Roll Eyes  Wink )

Learnt a valuable lesson....Never let your man decide on such important events in life. Good that you are the one planning this. Have fun! Cheesy

You could try the El Nido resorts in the Philippines - stilt bungalows over the water.  I haven't been yet so I can't really recommend but they look lovely and I'd love to go there.  They might be a bit of a pain to get to though (only accessible by boat and all that kind of thing), so you'd have to look into that but they do look great.
