We do not have our TV hooked up to Singapore TV or cable so rely on great DVD/ BLue Ray or iStore series for entertainment. We are running out. Can anyone recommend any great series (American/ UK) they have been watching we love series that are kind of below the wire but get great reviews. Here are my recommendations of what we have watched and loved. We are running out of ideas so please share what you have been watching and loved.

Here's my list:

The Wire
The Shield
Friday Night Lights - watching at the moment and it's brilliant!
24
Mad Men
Damages
House (but it's getting a bit boring)

Where did you get Mad Men?  I have seen half of the 1st season and would like to see the rest (I believe they have made 3 seasons).  However, I cannot find the DVDs in Singapore and as far as I know they don't show it on tv here either...

We just finished watching the first season of Parenthood from the US and now can't wait for the second season to start - iTunes has it.

You could also get both the UK version of The Office and the US version as well.

Deadwood was excellent but sadly HBO cancelled it before they made the last series so you can enjoy 3 series but you'll never find out what happens.  (HBO are apparently quite bad at doing this, or so I've read on various TV/Movie discussion sites).

I love Battlestar Galactica and the X files (they've got a box set of best rated episodes out now too so you can watch all the good ones with the freaks and monsters and forget about the alien conspiracy ones).

A Touch of Frost is a good one if you like UK police dramas

Peep Show is good if you like risqué comedy

Gavin and Stacey is comedy I love

Boston Legal is great

I used to love Northern Exposure but it's probably a bit dated now

I also like Midsomer Murders

Did you like what I did with the green there - my TV is broken and I'm a bit bored   Grin

I would add:

Justified (Season 1 is available, season 2 is being filmed)
Shark (Cancelled after season 2 - but still a good show)

Sorry but big bang theory is just terrible. Trying watching it without the laugh track to prove how bad it is. It's slightly more intelligent then 2 and 1/2 men
