I've been here 2 weeks only, also working long hours. The guys in the office are all very friendly but aren't into having a swift beer after work. I've worked on four overseas contracts and this is the first one where I didn't find an instant good social scene at work, so I guess this place will take more patience and effort.
Anyway, give me a shout if you want to meet up have a swift beer or grab some food. I work around Raffles Place and am staying around Little India.

This post has been up for 2 weeks,282 views and only 2 responses!  I went out with the OP last Saturday; was a great night out and will be repeating ad nauseum  (yes, alcohol was involved). OP is a great guy, it says a lot about this place that he was here for a year and he posted looking for people to go out with.
Are you all settled down in your social circles? Nobody wants to meet new people or exchange ideas with people who’ve lived in different parts of the world? Talk about your children’s education with a new face? Find new restaurants?  Don’t want to move outside the comfort zone of your condo?
Come on people, be adventurous, make contact. A  dinner, a trip to the ballet (this looks great: www.dansfestival.com ), whatever, you’ll enrich your life making an effort.

Hello!
We just arrived with my husband René, one week ago. He is Danish, I am Italian and we live in Geneva Switzerland. We are staying 2 months in Singapore. René is actively looking for a job.
It is our third visit and we want to come here for a few years. We are not in a comfy condo yet  Wink and I am sure it will never stop us to meet new people. We love meeting people from all parts of the world. We have very good real Singaporean friends of Chinese origin here. We met Kaven and Jennifer in Budapest a few years ago and we have been very good friends ever since. They take us to the best and real places in Singapore where often we are the only Westerners present. We look forward meeting with you guys whenever you have time. Best regards, Dorotea

Londonjohn's post is interesting. "Are you all settled down in your social circles?..."

There is only so much time for socializing.  Once you get a group of friends (close friends, casual friends, friends of friends, acquaintances) there isn't much motivation to go out and make a concerted effort to meet new people.  Whereas when I was first here, I was doing all kinds of stuff to meet people.

hi
I am from Shanghai and been here just for three weeks. Honestly it's easy for me to get used to the life here since SG is nominated by Chinese yet  Smiley but it's difficult to get to know people after work. I want to make some friends to drink, outing on weekend and travel maybe during holidays

Good luck

Hello Ladies and Gents,

First mistake on the msg board - started a similar thread without thinking  Roll Eyes.Soz.
Anyway count me in for a few beers. Usually sit for a couple by self in the bar under Tabs (not sure what it's called).

Work in Raffles & Changi areas, so if anyones in either neck of the woods, give me a shout.

Not fully connected yet with so usually pick up mail only in the evening!

Look forward to it.
