Hello. Im from Portugal - Europe

My s-pass got rejected 3 days ago.
details presented:
-enrolment papers of a 3 month multimedia certificate
-5 years of experience
-24 page portfolio of video, we and print.
-employment history + salary(s)
-Cv

reason of rejection: quota. the company is a subsidiary part of a big company.
hr said: it was easier if i try a bigger company cos chance are quite slim for this appeal.

new requested documents besides above ones:
-testimonials of clients i worked  for
-any other documents or reasons to support the application
-copy of the original certificate (being shipped right now)

Does anybody knows what the best reasons are? I want to convert to Islam and expand my portfolio as well as further my incomplete education.

Do i have a chance this appeal goes good? (i have one month left on my visitors pass  Sad )

Thanks is advance!

Your best bet would be to enroll in a school, get a student pass, and work part time.

Thanks for replying!

Zip? My portfolio is quite extensive and of good quality. and the extra testamonials will come from okay companies. will MOM not regard these new documents and only stick to education??

PP: So what kind of school could accept me. I considered it but uppon search i only find places hard to get in. That require completed education almost, i mean is there any school doing assessments of skils as enrolment criteria? Any further advice?

Digital film making, motion graphics, graphic design and video post-production are the areas i prefer to study. How and where can i get some guidance?

Thanks in advance.

Why the poster said "Zip" then go on to say you do not have the qualifications to get in a school.

Ergo - there is your answer.

Errmm.. bravo for your pocket-psycology finding sherlock. But maybe you should know that there are loads of schools and institutes atleast in europe that do assessment tests. My certificate is prior to a diploma approved by the Middlesex University for example.

I came here to have some educated and wise advice on where to go to to solve my problem. Not to be judged poorly based on some lines with bad intent like on PP.

Once again if somebody could use 5 minutes to consider any atention to the information and questions asked i would be gratefull.
If it is only to bash nonsense dont bother.

I still need help.

Thanks.

You only have a certificate and 5 years experience in an industry in which singapore has heaps of locals, probably with degrees.

Hardly foreign talent material.

I hazard a guess with an attitude like that you do not stand a chance never mind your less than stellar qualifications that most applications for a position here would outshine in an instant.

Why oh why would they employ such an underachiever such as yourself when any more talented candidates abound with higher qualifications and more experience?

So now run away sonny jim and get a decent education rather than some dumb shit certificate.

There is an offer from a company hence the appeal. Why oh why is this populated by people only trying to bash my education? What is wrong with you people?
How can you even talk about attitude based on 200 words of technical information.

The work i do very few locals can: video compositing/special effects; 3d modeling; promotional print design and web design. These different areas combined in one person are hard to find specially in high quality.  With my dumb certificate i have worked for Tv channels, done documentaries, graphic packs, was teacher of all the interns other channels, my work is still in use by all my clients and much more. Its sad you guys only evaluate my education. Luckly companies think otherwise! And i think they can evaluate my work much better than pesky arrogant people that jump into conclusions in a ridiculous way.
I regret that you guys fail to be polite and are used to do to others whatever others have done to you. Just sad. Im trying my best here. I came to be with someone i love. Have a bit of respect or go back to a teenage playground like youtube with all your bloody hate.

Does anybody even reads my questions?
I already understand chances are slim for the s-pass. Im focusing on alternatives.

Any help? Or will you guys stick with fact-statement like if already didnt know my problems.

Stop being arrogant and be nice.

It's not about being arrogant, it's just being realistic. If you don't like the answers, don't ask the questions.

As has been pointed out, your chances are "Zip". You're the one displaying the arrogance and trying to defend how good you think you are.

But "Unclocked" can not see that - he can not see his own shitty attitude and only wants someone to give him "Nice" answers like Mummy would - there there son all will be OK.

An "S" pass FFS - I thought that was for Bangladeshi construction workers and Chinese food court staff?

If that is all they are offering you the company does not have the same high falutin opinion of your work that you do - they are offering you the bottom end of the ladder with a salary comensurate with it.

If you are as good as you think you are go and breeze through the qualifications that will allow you to move here - simple as.

You might be finding this all a little baffling and clearly your ego has taken something of a knock.  Fact is, you are receiving replies from seasoned expats who have worked and lived in this system.  All employment here has to be approved by the Ministry of Manpower.  They actually do an excellent job.  However, they have regulations, boxes that have to be checked and procedures to follow.  Employment is based on an employee and employer eligibility. There is little room for deviation on that.  There are people who are better able to prove their qualifications than you are.  That does not mean that they can do a better job.  It simply means that they can check all of the right boxes.

In your case, you have already been told the answer.  It's in your initial post - "quota".  The company that want you are not able to apply for any more expat employment passes.  No point getting upset with anyone on this forum, or trying to impress us or hoping that one of us can wave a magic wand.  If you want a job in Singapore you will need to find another company who has not yet filled their quota for employing expats.

"An "S" pass FFS - I thought that was for Bangladeshi construction workers and Chinese food court staff?"

An S-pass is not for unskilled workers. It is for individuals without degrees but with some sort of formal education and some special talent. The original (small) company was applying for the correct visa for you. They obviously thought enough of you and your skills to attempt to apply but really they should have checked if their quota was full. If you were rejected only because of the quota then you will stand a good chance at a second attempt with another company. If they employ another local or PR in the interim, the same small company may have a chance on a second attempt in securing you an S-pass.

They have given you good advice in that you should approach another company that has not filled their quota and are of course looking for your skill set. An alternative is to "re-package" yourself and to apply for a similar job with the similar but not the same skill set.

I have successfully acquired a S-pass for an Aussie with no formal education but with some wishy washy certificate. He failed the initial application because MOM did not recognize his certificate. We repackaged his skill set and made a case for him and he eventaully got the visa.
So it is possible to get a pass after an initial rejection.

I would advise you to stay in touch with the company and let them know that you are still keen and ask them to let you know when they think that there is an opening for you. People come and go from companies all the time.If it happens that a foreigner leaves, you could fill his shoes so to speak.

Good Luck.
