Ok I don't/never complain here about shortages of 'western' food in Singapore.  It happens periodically and, as a long-termer, I am usually prepared.  BUT can anyone tell me what shop, anywhere on the Island, has stocks of Tonic water?  PLEASE

hmmm I didn't know tonic was in short supply at the moment.  I've got it on my list for tomorrow - if I find it, I'll post back and spill the beans on where it was.

Just a thought - do M&S sell tonic?  They sell wine and cordial - I'll check there too if the usual suspects don't have any.

Depending where you live you may have a wholesaler closer than Chee Tat Trading, 25 Depot Lane - Off Depot Rd - which links Alexandra and Henderson.

But this chap's reliable and cheap. I've never known him to be out of tonic - F&N's Extra Dry which is quite passable and has the requisite shot of quinine to help stave off malaria, cramps and pimples on one's bottom eh what!

You can stock up on soft drinks for the kids and assorted amber nectars too.

Cheers.

OK, back from shopping -  Cold storage didn't have any tonic, but M&S did - in bottles and they had soda water too.

Unfortunately not Mystery.

We rely on a steady flow of duty-free single malts and gin. There are however some lean traveling months when I find myself tempted to pay the extortionist local prices. Thankfully wine is becoming more affordable as the number of off-premise outlets increase. Cold Storage are halfwits and still have no idea how to manage that category effectively. Intent on applying ludicrous markups (like many bad-egg restaurants here) they rely on a captive market. Lazy. We tend to not shop there out of principle.

GingerMo,
cheers. Exactly my feeling...these guys here are really extortion artists ! That's true for booze as well as for tabacco.
as I quite frequently travel I stock up on Whisky too on that occasion...but sometimes that's not enough...especially after having had a few guests who like a drink it can become a bit dry :-)

Tobacco is the same...ridiculous ! with a good whisky I enjoy a cigar...one of my favourites here is anywhere between 34-44 SGD....when I buy it in Europe, pay tax and GST when importing here...it is still 50% cheaper overall then the retail price here....!!!!

anyway, cheers again and
take care

The tonic water producing machine (in the factory here in Singapore) has broken up. It takes a few weeks to get tonic water to the stores again. - This is not a joke. -

Knew it was good for malaria, but never heard the one about pimples on the behind!

Twenty five years pimple free...and not one jot of malaria either. Miracle water. And I'm fairly sure the gin helps too.  Wink
