Is Singapore suitable for single people?

I have a few female friends in that age group and all have a great time, they are always traveling, a few have married and they are often dating expat guys, there are decent normal guys here.
As some-one said the sleazy guys who aren't ready to settle down and shag anything are here as they are back home.

Having lived in Hong Kong for 7 years, Singapoor for 1+ year I'd say Singapoor does not cut it for singles.

Not a great singles scene, not a great social scene. -Strange place. Not a huge amount to do.
Many superficial relationships, but doesn't seem to be many meaningful ones starting/developing here.

I'll put it out there clear as day for you:

If you are an attractive (read fit, good body) white female with a good social sense - SG is a great scene for you.  Men from all over the world will be after you, and I've known several attractive western women here who met great husbands after very active dating.

If you are a bit on the heavy or unattractive side and/or you don't mix well in new social scenes - forget it.  You will leave here in 2-3 years having never had a good date or any sex.  I've known several women in that category too.

HK isn't much different socially, but the air is dirtier and there is certainly more of a buzz to the place.

I know lots of single expat women who are having a great time and great social life.  Many met through sporting clubs and socialise and holiday together etc.   Agree to a degree with the deal - if you are fairly attractive and easy to get on with people, there are men here who should be interested - they don't all opt for the local girls.

Ok maybe I'm wrong, but I would say an attractive female who is under 30, and not overweight will receive positive attention here, the same way she probably would in any country. There are nice expats in both genders who are intelligent, fun and sociable. However, I would say in addition, she will receive negative attention which she may not be used to in other place... -which may well be very offputting.

Hong Kong has a great expat scene and a great balance of guys and girls.  The dating scene for expat couples is very very good.  The majority of pub goers in LKF (main pub district) are all caucasian especially the regular crowd of british who are settled there (very easy to spot).  The local men do go out but tend to favor the karaoke scene and the usual mainland china hostesses who pander to their every needs.

Ironic that people complain that Singapore isn't 'real Asia' and yet go to HK and go to bars entirely populated by expats

HK is awesome. Does anyone else find the nightlife in singapore really inconsistent? Like you can go out one night and there's a great crowd, the following w/e, same place -dead -no crowd. So to answer your q, it's really hard because sometimes a place is good, other times not. There doesn't seem to be a regular crowd anywhere, or this this just my experience? Possibly i'm contributing to the prob, as I don't go to the same place regularly either!

alot of expat women here just can't take the competition and leave Singapore. If you are over 60kgs here then your chance of picking up is zero.

A&E has hit the nail on the head. 10 years ago there were a lot fewer caucasian women, but there were also fewer places to go out - anyone here at the time would have been going to Papa Joe's, Next Page, Carnegies, er, the one at the Mandarin, plus a few other places, but I do mean few. You'd actually see the same people in the same bars, all the time. That sounds a bit dull, but it was terrific, plus those bars were laid-out well, and PACKED from wednesday to saturday nights - you couldn't NOT start chatting with someone who'd caught your eye.

Now, there are hundreds of bars, most of them half-full even on a Friday, with people sat round tables - how do you get talking to people like that? I see hundreds of really nice looking western women at Raffles Place at lunchtime - I meet a lot through friends, etc, but I really can't remember the last time I chatted-up a stranger in a bar - the nightlife just isn't lively enough anymore, or conducive to do that sort of thing.

Can you tell me what the expat men look like then??.....are they all ´´perfect´´??
