Has anyone ever had any issues regarding opening a bank account? My credit rating isnt so good, I defaulted on a loan payment a few years back, all paid now. Is this a potential barrier for a foreigner to open one?

Don't think that's a problem - unless you want to open the account with the same bank you defaulted on :-)
