As my girls are allergic to wheat, gluten, dairy and egg, I am thinking of making bread of my own. I have a conventional oven at home but heard that making bread with bread machine is much easier and better. Is that true? Does anyone have recommendations on which bread machine is good? I would also love any recipes on yummy gluten-free bread. Would appreciate if anybody can pass along. Thanks... Wink

I had a Blue Sky bread machine which was Carrefour's house brand I believe - very cheap, about $50-60 but I didn't like the bread it made very much so what I did in the end was that I used it just to mix the dough and then I baked it in the oven and that made nicer bread.  However, you could just get a good mixer if you wanted to make dough (and you could use it for other things too).

There are more expensive brands you can buy (I've seen them at Courts, Mustafa and Harvey Norman) and they might make better bread, but what I would suggest is that you look up reviews on sites like Amazon and that might help you make the right choice.

I have intolerance to gluten, wheat and dairy, but have never tried a breadmaker. As far as I know, you need to purchase a breadmaker that has a special programmable gluten-free function, and there are only a few on the market, Zojirushi (sp?) Cuisinart I think makes one too.

Late last year I read that Sanyo had developed a machine that bakes a loaf of bread from rice. Apparently you add washed rice grains, and other ingredients and it will mill, knead, rise and bake all in one. The initial production sold out in Japan in 3 weeks. They were supposed to start taking orders again in April after ramping up production. This thread just reminded me of it so will go out and try to find if it's made it to Singapore yet, but I doubt it. I would love to have one of these.

Bumping up this thread in case anyone has any leads on where to get the bread machine with the gluten free cycle.

I've read about the zojirushi one but the model that has the gluten free program isn't sold in Singapore Sad

I was the previous poster. I did some more research on the Sanyo GOPAM, the rice bread machine, and was disappointed to learn that you must add gluten as an ingredient to make the bread.

I haven't yet found a breadmaker with gluten-free setting in Singapore, but TBH, I haven't really been looking hard. My suggestion would be to contact Zojirushi directly and see if they can bring one in for you.

does anyone know what brands you can get? I am also looking for a Zojirushi 2-pound loaf machine but went into Taka the other day and they don't have one.

They only had the Zo mini.

The Zo 2-pound machine with 2 paddles gets good reviews on Amazon.

Was just hoping someone could tell me if they have seen that model in Singapore at all.

Or else another similar machine and where to get it. Don't really want to traipse around Courts etc if I can avoid it :-)

Also - sourdough culture. Has anyone got some?
