don't recall signing anything either... anyway all I received from Mindef after getting my PR is a notice of exemption

Wimps - don't u expats go on and on about how easy peasy NS in Singapore is and its no big deal (including the time commitment - effectively giving up 2 years of income). So what's the big deal? Just do it.

And why would we want to defend a little Island that Thailand, Malaysia (maybe) and Indonesia could walk in to anytime it likes against the wimpy boys here.

But Singapore relies more on the technological warfare to act as deterrent no?

They will think about the cost of training given the number of years that you will be available for service and then give you an exemption. But you need to talk to them. Do it now.

I got a PR through my wife sponsor, I have recv letter from MINDEF stating i have to register for NS, but I'm the only person earning in the family. CAn i exempt from NS...Anyone exempted like my case.... Pls reply

Yes, sure you can.  Just ignore it.

When they arrest you, tell them you didn't register because some anonymous person on the internet said you it was ok.

There is a tel# on there.  Call them.  Why ask here?
