I've got a 5 CD shuffle player that doesn't seem to read most CD's properly anymore.  Also have a Lexmark jet printer that went from working perfectly to just not coming on.  I could probably replace these cheaply, but hate the idea of throwing stuff away that might be easily repaired.

Any recommendations on a place to get repairs done (probably different for printer and CD Player).  Both are past warranty.

There's a shop at Queensway Shopping Centre which seems to do such repairs (shop's full of consumer electronics - VCRs, TVs etc). I can't remember which floor it's on (definitely not the 1st though) and it's tucked away in some corner...part of the "out ring" if you're familiar with Queensway's layout.

I don't think they fix printers tho. In fact, the only places which do are probably the distributors/manufacturers themselves. And based on my experience, it really isn't worth it. "Workmanship" alone often amts to $50 or more!

Bring them to the manufacturers service centers. The pricing is not any different and they have the authentic parts.
