Basic: S$11K/mth
Housing: 5K/mth
Transport: 2K/mth
Others: Mobile for work and personal use, 2 business class flights home to New York per year or cash value (my choice), tax accountancy for annual US tax filing, rental car when I am home in the US on work or vacation, health insurance according to "normal Singapore plan" which I am still pending on details of what that actually entails

37 years old, married, no kids, transportation and logistics industry, regional sales manager, internal company transfer

I know this deal is fine to pay the bills and save some money.  Just curious for relevant comparisons particularly in the shipping, transport, warehouse, forwarding, supply chain and logistics sectors.

All-in local package $225k/yr (plus variable/performance bonus) and company car. Standard work-related "trade tools" and medical/insurance benefits.

I'm on my late 30's and somewhat similar position / related industry. We get by as my wife's earning around $150K/yr, also on local package..

Sounds like a good deal to me - housing allowances are becoming rarer these days and with rental prices now you will need it. However, without a family 5k will cover you well. Be careful with the medical plan as costs can pile up so make sure you are covered for everything you need or budget to cover yourself.

in todays market.

Someone will come along and vilify it but forget them - you are not in oil and gas or banking. You can have a very good laugh with ots of travel arounbd the region

Thanks for the feedback.  I am sure there are people that make much, much more than me but I feel ok about what I earn.

I'm an expat on 100k, no housing, car, mobile or anything else allowance.

I'm guessing most people here are expecting a certain level of fancy lifestyle.

I find it strange that some people think that becoming an expat is somehow a social leveller and that all expats should earn the same and live similar lifestyles.

PP, did you earn the same as your boss or your boss's boss back home?  Weren't there some bankers, lawyers, doctors or businessmen in your home country who earned much more than you?

A local AVP with a bank would be earning 100K per annum already and a VP will earn between $150K - $200K per annum. If you are an expat coming in at a junior level (i.e. Manager level) then yes, I would say its a good package. But if you are an expat coming in as a AVP or VP level, I would say, it's aligned to a local package.
