Chatsworth East vs Eton House 718 Thoughts

Hi All,

My family will be moving to Singapore very soon and I am interested in a school on the East coast for my 4 year old child.

Currently, based on availability, I was exploring Chatsworth East and Eton House 718 ( a  new school branch of the Eton House family of schools). Can any parent of the schools aforementioned with kids under 5  or 6 provide some insights into the schools and the facilities?

Also, if there are any other schools that we should also look in on the east coast that would be at a similar price point, I would welcome your recommendations. I am looking for a school to keep my child in for 2-3 years without changing schools.

I have 2 boys at Chatsworth East - we are very happy. They love school.

I visited both schools and chose Chatsworth where my child will be starting in the fall. Eton had a much more academy or kindy vibe than a proper school. While I felt it would ok for kindy, I had reservations about the elementary program. However, that being said, impressions and needs vary so it is best to arrange a tour for both.

I've heard good things about One World International by speaking to one parent.  The school has not been around too long so they have not developed a real reputation.

We're moving as well and exploring schools on the east coast for our 4 year old. There's also the Canadian International School for you to consider.

Chatsworth seems to be a bit cheaper than One World and Canadian International School - anyone care to comment on the facilities and teachers of any of these 3 schools and how it relates to a 4/5 year old.

Etonhouse has a great bilingual chinese tuiton system. If you want your child to pick up the chinese language while going to school Ethonhouse is your school!

Which school has more facilities. I cannot find Chatsworth on Google Maps to see how large the school grounds might be.

Can anyone comment which school is on larger grounds and has more playground facilities?

We recently looked at Canadian , Eton , One World and Chatsworth East.

Canadian was too big as my kids go to a small village school in Sussex. Really liked Chatsworth but they couldn't gaurrantee place for my 5 year old son , they could for my 7 year old daughter. We went with One World in the end....also mandarin every day , lots of sports / after school clubs and small classes.

Its really important to visit the schools and look at the classes , get a feel for the vibe

I have had children at both Eton House Preschool and Chatsworth East.  I think Eton is excellent for smaller children (up to age 3 or 4), but I think from 4 onwards Chatsworth would be a better option.  My child transferred to Chatsworth at around 5 and a half and he was well behind the other children in his class.  Eton is great for playing, but I think there is perhaps too much playing.  Chatsworth has a better balance of play and also some learning.  If you will be in Singapore for a while, then you don't want your child to struggle through or be behind, especially when people are so obsesed with schooling and academics.

Having recently moved to East Coast it has been impressive to visit several schools in the area. What impressed me most about Chatsworth East was the commitment of the staff and the warm community feel about the school. The size of the school is perfect - not too big or small. They have a clear vision of where they are headed and what they stand for.

To be honest, if you dont love your kids, then send them to Eton house 718. Undoubtedly it has the best building and the newest of equipments, but the management is crazy. When I say crazy, they are highly dictatorial and uneasy.

I have now spoken to multiple parents and mothers and they echo my sentiments. Lately the school has had 2 cases of swine flu(H1N1)and 23 cases of Hand foot and mouth diseases in a single day and is closed until 09th April 2012.

I am shocked, by the way they treat kids and parents. I did a mistake by putting my kids in the school, but have now pulled them due to mismanaged affairs.

I agree, our girls are at tanglin but were are Eton for a couple of years - was not impressed - it's a kindergarten - there was a very bossy female parent liaison officer at the time dutch sounding name.
