Is it ok to use degrees as postnominals?

What impression does this leave on the person?

Or should it be left for professional memberships only?

I think business people nowadays don't use their qualifications on their cards.  Doctors seems different for obvious reasons.

They should be used only where the degree is an essential qualification for the work being done.
A clear example is when some people holding a doctor`s degree püt Ph.D. on their cards when working anywhere but academia.

The impression it leaves with me is that you hold far fewer postnominals than I do....

If you only a BA/B.Sc don't put it. If you have a professional designation (CA, CFA, PMP, etc...) then that's different. Even MA/M.Sc is the same as BA on a card.

On linkedin type something like CFA or CA or PMP or CPA and see the number of results. Then type BA or B.Sc and compare the results.

is a factor and even which department in certain industries. I work in Pharma and obviusly medical Dr's put their degree on their cards but so do the PHd's.

Then others would never put their BA or MBA on theirs though - its a science thing

I know many NUS graduates, but I am not impressed with their academic abilities. A-levels are easy exams, and any nerds can excel in such easy exams.  Asian teenagers are famous for being nerds. As you study harder, you will get significantly better scores on such easy exams. Preparation is a key to sucess. A-levels are not a kind of exams people with normal intelligence cannot excel in.
