Hi!
Got an offer to move to KL with company. I know the city as a tourist, but how is it to live in? Advantages and disadvantages esp. compared to SG? Is it ok as a single woman, and how as a family? Appreciate any insight!

Being a muslim country I guess the male POV is different from a woman's but I like the city, my wife comes from there and I have spent a lot of time there so know the place differently. I like the food in KL, the people who seem much more friendlier than here in Singapore and the feeling that the city is alive.  Sure, there is probably more crime there but OTOH they are more open about it and don't try to cover it up.

He loves it here - gives him a chance to whine and make snide remarks, and that makes him happy

I came out of the KL suburbs after 5.5yrs there and it was a great time. Traffic sucks, and more so during/after rain but other than that it's pretty relaxed.

Majority is friendly, there's good space, it is relatively cheap and there is plenty of variation in food choices and things to do.

You have to learn to adopt to a slightly slower way of life, in that it can take ages to get stuff done......right. Simple things like changing address with the bank etc. can take an age but if you go in not expecting efficiency then you are not disappointed when you walk out.

It doesn't matter if you are single or a family. As a single woman you might like to find a taxi driver you like and feel safe with then just call him whenever you need him. There are some places not to walk at night but generally it's quite safe.
