This may been asked before, but could not find it by searching the forums.

Me - I am working and have PR status (US Citizen) and just got my CPF account recently.

I am already enrolled into 'Great Eastern' with a deduction from my CPF saving account without my approval? I have the choice of enrolling into NTUC and or opt-out altogether.

Questions
Is Great Eastern Insurance any good or NTUC?
Did anybody opt-out or buy another life insurance?
How did ‘Great Eastern’ become my insurance company without even asking me?

I assume you are talking about Eldershield which all PR & citizens are enrolled into at the age of 40. There are 3 insurers covering it, all offering the same premiums & benefits; you are allocated an insurer by the government. You can opt to change but there isn't really any reason to do so.

I really don't see any sense paying for ElderShield in Singapore unless you plan retiring here (which I doubt anyone is planning for practical reasons).
